syawal is getting nearer...but still....part 2

i remembered that people once said that, if a person does not change himself, then the ramadhan will be nothing to him, but just an ordinary month. and also, i had seen people who didn't care even once about ramadhan..the men also, they were not fasting,

they even drank their orange juice, on the motorcycle, at a highway, while his friend was riding the motorcycle, he drank. then he passed the juice towards his friend. many people saw this, because, come on, it was on highway, so surely lots of people were watching them. shameful, i thought. and i noticed that, during the first ramadhan night, all people gathered in the mosque to pray. until some of them had to pray outside the mosque, because it was quite small to gather a lot of people in it. as time passed by, the number decreased. from four saff, only two saff were left. people were busy packaging their belongings, and they finished their prayer early because they eagerly wanted to rest at their home and do other important things. then we could see, the mosque was not so merry as it was during the early ramadhan.

moreover, some people, were seen holding hands together, as a sign of their long lasting and true love. as for me, they didn't respect the holy month. a month when all of the believers must strain themselves from doing anything they desire, such as eating too much, glancing at women for men, or men for women, listening to joyful songs, and anything that is related to desire, or nafs.

they are so confident that they still have another ramadhan next year, then when they are closer to the death, for example they suffer some kind of chronic disease, they repent. this is a horrible mindset. how if they will die tomorrow, but still they think that death only happens when they are getting old, being grannies etc.

people are so happy when entering syawal, they forget their prayers; are they complete enough, have they repented, have they changed?

syawal is no merrier compared to ramadhan actually, but people love syawal more, because it is the time when they can go back to their hometown, receive duit raya, ask forgiveness, put on new clothes, etc. i'd seen a live cast of tarawih prayer in saudi arabia.

the imam was crying as he knew that ramadhan was going to an end that year. because it is hard to get a month full of barokah, or blessings, where all people who do good deeds will obtain more rewards during the doomsday.

but for us, the nearer the syawal, the merrier it is. no starving anymore.
why do they think like that?
